Volunteer

We welcome everyone! Whether you’re new to Scouting or have been part of the movement for years, there’s a team for you. Some teams and roles may require prior experience, but we can help you find the perfect fit for your skills and passions.

Volunteering with us comes with plenty of benefits. You’ll have the chance to:

  • Meet new people and make lasting friendships
  • Step outside your comfort zone and try something new
  • Enjoy the great outdoors and get involved hands-on
  • Make a positive impact in your community
  • Help create meaningful opportunities for young people
  • Build memories that will stay with you for life

Even if you can only lend a hand now and then, that’s completely fine! Whether you’d like to plan activities, serve refreshments, or get creative with crafts, we truly appreciate any time you can give.

Every week, our volunteers empower young people with essential life skills through fun activities and exciting adventures.

Most of our volunteers work directly with young people aged 4 to 18 in our different groups, known as Sections:

  • Beavers
  • Cubs
  • Scouts

As part of a team, you might:

  • Welcome young people and families to sessions and events
  • Ensure everyone feels safe, supported, included, and engaged
  • Help plan and lead exciting activities
  • Take part in day trips, camps, and expeditions
  • Share your skills—or learn new ones
  • Celebrate young people’s achievements, big and small

No experience working with young people? No worries!

Whether you can volunteer every week or just occasionally, we’ll support you with training, guidance, and plenty of tea along the way.

Your time and skills can make a huge difference—even if you’re not working directly with young people.

Across local, regional, and national levels, volunteers play vital roles behind the scenes. As part of a team, you might:

  • Support and motivate fellow volunteers
  • Promote Scouts to attract new members and grow our community
  • Assist with admin, fundraising, finances, operations, or governance
  • Keep things running smoothly—whether it’s making tea, tidying up after meetings, driving, or maintaining meeting spaces

Not sure how you’d like to get involved or how much time you can give? No problem! Your local team can help you find a role that suits your availability, including flexible and occasional volunteering.

Volunteering with the 1st West Craven Scouts Team is your chance to give back, grow, and shape the future of Scouts. Whether you’re interested in working directly with young people or supporting behind the scenes, there’s a role for you.

If you’re ready to make an impact and become part of an inspiring community, contact us today to find out more about the exciting volunteering opportunities in your area.
